Lynn's Steampunk Art

Aloha everyone,
I'm a little behind in everything, not just posting but with Christmas as well.  So, very quickly let me start with this long overdue feature of Lynn Steven's steampunk mini tablet that I won from Lynn's blog:
ornate with beautiful charms
I was so excited to learn that I was the winner of Lynn's Blogaversary, she had sooo many of us fans that entered her contest. Lynn is talented, sweet and generous.  She not only had this giveaway, but bonus prizes and tons of rubberstamps.  I'm very grateful to have won this gorgeous tablet.
So this is the card I made to send to Lynn in appreciation of her generosity.

Son's Birthday Card, Cart Rebirth

Aloha everyone,
December 1 is my son's birthday, but I wasn't able to get his card to him 'til a few days ago.  I love it when he comes to visit with his children.  When he came to visit Sunday I gave him his card.   He's a firefighter, so I wanted to use the La-La Land stamp I got some time ago.
He's so cute! Just like my son...

I don't think he reads my blog, so I don't think he'll see that.  Heehee.

My sister-in-law has been cleaning and decluttering the "family" house for some time now.  And she called me and asked if I wanted the cart/table that used to be my mother-in-laws table.  No one else wanted it and I didn't want it to be a cast off. So I said yes, besides I've always loved that table. Well the brass parts needed sanding as it started pitting, I didn't particularly care for the wheels. The glass surface has some pretty art work, however it was a powder blue with white and gold which didn't match my bedroom.  what I did to fix that was turn the glass over so only the white and gold could be seen.   I then asked my husband if he could paint it and change the wheels.  So it went from this:

To this:
My new bedside table

I know I'll have my little nightlight, pencil box, photos and little clock on the top, but I'm not sure if I want to just put a plant on the bottom or something else.  I absolutely love how my repurposed piece of furniture looks now with the new coat of paint to match the base of my floor lamp.

Be Back Soon

Aloha everyone;
Sorry I haven't posted in a while.  It's not been too cheery here with (wo)man's best friend being so ill.  Yes, my dog, Hoku has been sick since the day before Thanksgiving Day.  She will be undergoing one more test this Thursday.  We hope that will tell us exactly what is wrong with her.  In the meantime, please know that while Hoku is resting, I'm sneaking visits to as many blogs as I can.  I'm also prepping photos that was taken earlier and getting them blog ready while she sleeps.
So to all of my blogging friends, Have a Merry Christmas!

RAKS and Tag Party

Aloha everyone,
Well I certainly had a wonderful time at the tag party hosted by Denise Nibling, a fun crafter and gracious hostess.  Everyone there was so much fun, the food was delicious and of course the tag making was the best.  Not only that, take a look at the RAKs I received:
See the red velvet cake pops? Mmmm
We made a variety of tags.  Linda and I did vintage themed tags while Cami, Kyoko, Irene, Jenny and Denise chose the Christmas themed tags.  Checkout these beautiful tags:
Beautiful  huh?
Here's some closeups of these tags:

Incidentally, if you're looking for mine, it's posted in yesterday's post.
I had a great time tagging with this fun and crazy group.  I can't wait to do this again; I hope I get invited again!

Tag Sample and Kits

Aloha everyone,
Time is just flying by so quickly! Thanksgiving is next week, Christmas decorations are everywhere and I haven't started Christmas shopping yet! Yikes!!

I have a tag party to go to this morning and I wanted to share my tag that I made for the group.
Kits
Front of tag
Back of tag
The paper I used for the tag is called "French Quarters" from Quick Quotes.  I think I was drawn to this cardstock because of the name.  You see, I'm going to visit the French Quarters with some friends in January.  Not only that, I'm going to visit a wonderful blogging friend, who lives near there, for the first time.  I'm so excited about that!

Sorry, back to the tag.  The crown and Eiffel Tower stamps are from Stampin' Up.  The leaf punch is quite old and I don't remember the brand.  The flower on the front I made myself and the fleurette in the back is the Tim Holtz mini die.

Thanks for visiting, I hope you enjoyed yourself.

In Honor of My Mom

Aloha everyone,
My mother transitioned January 1, 2009, her birthday was November 1.  I spend her birthday thinking of her and all that she did for me and my siblings.  I think of how she loved her work and how intense her energy was that she put into her work.  But she also played well too.  She loved going to Las Vegas, she loved her music, especially Hawaiian music.
It takes me a while to get out of a little slump that I fall into on her birthday.  So I thought I would do a digi scrap page dedicated to her.  Just something quick, and it did get me flowing into the creative direction again.

Happy Halloween!

Aloha everyone,
I hope everyone is having a safe and fun Halloween.  Every year my husband and I attend a wonderful Halloween party hosted by Mahina and Todd Hugo.  They are a wonderful couple with big hearts.  The theme for the costumes change every year.  Last year it was to dress up in an ethnicity that you were not.  So last year I was a Geisha, and my husband was an Arabian knight; I did upload pics of that on my blog last year.  So this year we had to dress up as cartoon or comic characters.  I just felt so lazy and un imaginative so it was suggested I be Bat Woman since I could borrow a costume from my daughter; husband already had his Batman Costume from years before.  So here we are:
Mr & Mrs  Batman
I made these cute Halloween treat bags for the GCs.  I used the Sizzix fry-box die and some K&Co. Halloween Pack cardstock to make them.
Treats for my Sweets
Be safe and thanks for your visit.

Here are more of the cards I made a couple of weeks ago.  I must have been in a red zone, I kept grabbing red cardstock to work the cards.

A Painted Halloween

Aloha everyone,
I just wanted to share a bit of the Halloween decorations that I put out for the grandchildren.  I painted these some years back, but the babies just love them.  They can pick them up and play with them, which they do.
This one hangs right outside the front door
Hope your start of the weekend is getting off to a good start. Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Two Cards And A Page

Aloha everyone,
As I post this, the rain is pouring down on this heavenly side of the island. I just love the smell of the rain blending with the earth.
So here are two more cards that I made last week.
real pressed flowers
I realized my newest grand daughter is now a month old and I didn't post any photos of her.  Well here she is.
Isn't she a doll?!

This is another page created using My Memories V2 software.
You can click on any photos that I post to enlarge if you want to.
That's it for now.  I think I'll go check the waterfalls now.

Some Cards & New Buttons

Aloha Everyone,
Another busy week and weekend, but of course fun.  I spent the week making cards for birthdays, thank you, and thinking of you.  I have a couple more that I'd like to make, guess I know what I'll be doing this week.
Here's a card I made for my dear friend's husband who celebrated his Kanreki (60 yrs old) celebration.
I used the Cricut to cut the red fish and birthday sentiment, the Bigshot to add the fishes in pond texture. Quick and easy.
This next card is another quick card and not one that I'd plan to make, however, long story short, my Hoku dog wandered off the property, down the driveway and meandered down the street, in the street....oh...sorry, I said short.  Anyway, this card is for the very kind gentleman who saved Hoku from getting runned over by a car.
Now, I'd like to draw your attention to the new buttons on my side-bar to the right.  I completed a fantastic seminar hosted by Cindy Adkins of Whimsical Musings.  For completing the free seminar, I received this badge.  If you click it, you'll be taken to her blog and if you click the tab for the seminar, you too can complete the seminar for free.  I think I've said it before, but I don't mind repeating.  Cindy has a very big heart and loves to help everyone with their blog.  She has several blogs, however this is her main blog and you can visit her other blogs from there.  Also, while you're there, check out her books on blogging.  I did and I wasn't disappointed.
The second button is for Sonya's blog,  Counting My Blessings.  The first time I visited Sonya's blog, I fell in love with it.  She's a very talented artist, her mixed media collage pieces are beautiful.  Stop in for a visit.

Well that's it for now.  I hope everyone had a great weekend and I know that we'll all have a wonderful new week.  Thanks for stopping by for a visit and thanks to all you kind-hearted visitors for leaving a comment.

RAK Cards And New Software

Aloha everyone,
I'm sure we all wish we had more hours in the day. This past couple of weeks I wanted more days in the week! Go figure.
While in Nevada last month, we had the pleasure of meeting my sister-in-law's and her husband's friends from their Tai Chi class.  Jerry and Carol is such a  sweet and fun couple  we met on this trip.  Turns out Jerry is a talented cardmaker; he heard that I enjoy doing the same thing.  When we all met for lunch one day, he had these wonderful cards and bookmark for me.
awesome RAKS!
Do you see Sunbonnet Sue? She's in washi/yuzen? I love it.  Jerry is also a good photographer; see his flower card?  He took that photo himself.  Thank you Jerry!

I recently purchased a digital scrapbook software called My Memories.  Cindy at Whimsical Musings is having a contest and she's giving away this very software! Go to her blog to get the lowdown on how to enter, but hurry, the winner will be picked this Friday.  But if you don't win, it's OK, she's also offering a $10 discount.
Anyway, I just got done playing with the program and this is what I came up with.
My first digi scrapbook page
I've never done this before with so much freedom to move or adjust objects around the page.  This was fun to do, though it took me a while to figure out.
So now I have a question for those of you that do digi art.  I don't know how digital stamps work.  I know I didn't hear anyone laugh.   Can someone help and explain how digi stamping works please?
Ok, I know this post is too long, so I'll go play with my new software.  Have a great rest of the week.  Thanks for your visit.
Aloha,
